The 4-Day Mountain Recording Retreat

Get out of town. Make something real.

Most records don’t fail because of bad gear or bad songs. They stall because life doesn’t stop long enough to let you finish them.

Middle Fork Studio sits on the edge of a 500-acre conservation preserve in the Boise Mountains, about an hour from the city and a long way from distraction. You’ll sleep here, eat here, and work here — until the record is done, or at least further along than you thought possible in three days.

If you need a break, the mountains are right outside with opportunity to hike, kayak, get a line in the water, soak in a hot springs, or simply drive and enjoy the views. Guided float trips are available from locals guides, UTVs, mountain bikes are available to rent through local vendors. Restaurants, bars, grocery, and other amenities are all available nearby.

What’s included:

• 4 full days of recording with engineer and producer J. Carmichael — someone who has played festivals, toured the Americana circuit, and tracked records partly in Seattle, Boston, Austin and Nashville and nis now opening up his studio in his home in the beautiful Idaho mountains.

• Lodging in the onsite tiny house (up to 4 guests; beds in studio also available), lodging includes one big meal a day and the tiny house will be stocked with coffee, snacks etc based on your food preferences.

• Full studio access: Neve-clone preamps, tube compression, Pro Tools, full drum kit, isolation room, live room

• Evening listening sessions, arrangement conversations, and as much porch time as you need

• Optional: finishing your mix with a Grammy-winning Nashville engineer (quoted separately)

Who this is for:

Singer‑songwriters, small bands, and solo artists working anywhere in the Americana, folk, punk, or rock neighborhoods — whether you lean quiet and acoustic or loud and electric. If your songs live in that honest, guitar‑and‑drums space and you want a producer who actually understands both the storytelling side and the energy of a louder band, this is for you.

Pricing:

Starting at $2500 for up to 5 people, lodging included.
